尊敬的同仁：
    5月12日四川汶川大地震发生后，一些国际学者来信来电哀悼遇难者，慰问遇难者家属，支持的中国抗震救灾。下面摘登两封来信。

    首先，我对于最近发生在中国的突发性、毁灭性大地震及其带来的灾难严重关切，我及我的家人要对所有中国学者表达我们对逝去的无数生命及所造成的巨大财产损失的深深遗憾。同时请您相信，作为民族学者，我们保加利亚民族学研究所的所有学者会与你们共同分担苦痛；并且我们坚信中国定能战胜此次灾难，继续成功前进！请向郝教授、及中国社科院民族所的所有朋友们转达我们的诚挚问候！

Dear Sumei,
 
First of all, closely following the latest dramatic events in China – the devastating earthquake and its consequences I would like to express to all Chinese colleagues my and my family's personal deepest regrets for the tragic loss of so many lives, for the loss of property and resources. I also wish to ensure you, that as  fellow-ethnologists, all your Bulgarian colleagues from the Institute of Ethnology share the pain, but also the confidence in your country's capacity to survive through the tragedy, and successfully to go on! Please, give these feelings to Prof. Hao, and to our friends at your Institute!

我们对四川大地震所造成的灾难极为震惊。
我们对四川大地震遇难者及其家人表示真诚的同情。
我们为死难者在天堂的重生祈祷，为遭受地震苦难的人们早日恢复美好生活祈祷。
我们将在 2008年5月21日哀悼日这天，为遇难的中国兄弟姐妹们默哀。
希望在战胜这次灾难之后，我们能继续发展我们两国的友谊，并继续进行学术交流。
希望我们都有一个安全的世界。

We have been immensely shocked with what is resulted from the catastrophic Sichuan earthquake.
 
We express our affable and heart-felt sympathy to all the Schuan earthquake victims and their relatives.
 
We pray for their salvation in the next world and the early recovery of the people who are in adversity caused by the earthquake.
 
We nationally observe a Condolence Day on 21 May 2008 for our Chinese brothers and sisters victimized by the earthquake.
 
Hope that after the recovery of this disaster, we will be able to continue our friendship and academic activities in future.
 
Wish a safe earth for all of us.
