简介： 1994年在哈佛大学人类学系获博士学位；1994年至2000年在纽约市立大学任教并获得终身教职；2001年夏季回国在清华大学任教；2006年评为“长江学者”，研究兴趣先后包括了历史记忆、水库移民、生态抗争运动、儿童养育、自杀行为及艾滋病问题；目前研究聚焦在与公共健康发生密切联系的社会问题和政策议题，社会兼职包括中国艾滋病防治专家委员会委员、北京市检察特邀人民检察员、北京农民工教育促进会会长、中国人类学民族学研究会副会长、国际人类学民族学联合会（IUAES）副主席等职务。
